Eligibility and Application Requirements

Before you begin the application, be sure you have all of the documents identified in numbers 3, 4, 5, 6,  7 uploaded as PDF’s on your computer.  They will be required to complete the  online application form.  If the required information is not uploaded, the application cannot be submitted and your information will not be saved.

  1. An eligible candidate for a scholarship shall be a member of a Catholic church and a resident of Delaware County.
  2. All candidates for a scholarship shall be entering the freshman year, or currently enrolled, in an approved college in the United States as a regular, full-time, matriculated student in a program leading to a bachelor’s degree.
  3. An official transcript of high school (and college, if applicable) grades is to be uploaded (PDF).
  4. Academic Performance form (download) to be completed by a School Official and uploaded (PDF).  Download the Form for Academic Performance to be filled out by school officials.
  5. An autobiographical essay, containing a description of the applicant’s educational objectives, family, extracurricular activities, awards, outside-school activities, church activities, and jobs is to be uploaded (PDF).
  6. A letter of recommendation from a teacher, counselor, coach, or administrator is to be uploaded (PDF).
  7. A letter of recommendation from applicant’s parish pastor/priest is to be uploaded (PDF).

Awards will be made on the basis of academic excellence AND extracurricular/church activities. The decision of the Committee on Scholarships shall be final. Winners will be notified by May. Names of winners will be published in the Sunday bulletin of the three Catholic parishes in Muncie and the Muncie StarPress.

The amount of the scholarship will be determined by the student’s educational costs at the college. The maximum scholarship is $1,000 per year, renewable each year of undergraduate study to a total of four years, upon evidence ot satisfactory performance. Satisfactory Performance will be determined by the Committee on Scholarships and will require maintenance of a B average (3.0 or above on a 4.0 scale) and the student be free of issues involving moral turpitude.

The scholarship grant will be sent directly to the Catholic Student Center (Neuman Center) of the college. A certified copy of acceptance to the college must be received by the Committee on Scholarships before payment will be made.

The final date tor filing this application, as well as the supporting documents required in numbers 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7 above, is April 1 of 2023.  Materials submitted in support of the application are not returnable.

Note: The Academic Performance Form should be downloaded, completed by a school official and then uploaded as a PDF within this application. If you do not have the required documents to upload as PDF’s, do not start this application until you are ready.
